Technology company, YDX Innovation (YDX) has extended its partnership with entertainment company, Liquid Media Group.

This extension will allow the companies to collaborate on providing more virtual reality content for Liquid’s streaming platform, Reelhouse. YDX will help develop a pipeline of VR films and experiences for customers to experience, through popular VR headsets.

The company’s expertise in content selection and creation will play a vital role in this endeavour. Liquid Media is familiar with YDX’s skills, having previously collaborated with the company to develop virtual reality games.

YDX Innovation’s CEO, Daniel Japiassu believes Reelhouse is uniquely positioned to be a major streaming platform for VR films and experiences.

“Right now, access to VR films is mostly done in location-based centres, or at film festivals like Venice, Cannes, or TIFF. YDX is immersed in the VR community, and can provide great content to Reelhouse VR.

“We see this as an opportunity to strengthen our relationship with Liquid, a company that we love to work with, while bringing innovative stories to audiences,” he said.

The global VR market is currently experiencing increasing demand, partly due to lockdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The technology has mostly gained in popularity thanks to its incorporation into gaming and esports.

The VR format is also becoming more accessible, as it is adopted into more traditional entertainment venues like theatres. Estimates suggest that the global VR market will be worth approximately C$81.9 billion by the year 2027.

YDX Innovation (YDX) remains unchanged and is trading at C$0.16 per share at 11:36am EDT.
