Westmount Minerals Corp. (WMC) starts the 2022 exploration field season on the Douay East Gold Project.

Geological and exploration technicians have been sent to the project and have started the collection of soil samples.

This Douay East property covers over 4,500 Ha and is in the prolific Abitibi Greenstone Belt in western Québec.

Within the Casa Berardi Deformation Zone lays the Douay East Property.

Covering three separate targets on the property, the company has plans for a Soil Gas Hydrocarbon program over the project. The targets consist of around 1,100 soil samples.

David Tafel, CEO and Director of Westmount, said, “The project is located in a long-established mining district that is currently experiencing record levels of exploration activity.”

Originally the targets were brought to light back in 2021 from a high-resolution airborne magnetic survey.

The survey showed potential for gold-bearing based on drilling done on the property and a geological compilation.

Around 400 samples are anticipated to be collected in each target area along 100-meter spaced grid lines.

Westmount Minerals will be applying SGH surveys, a deep penetrating geochemical exploration technique.

This technique has been tested and refined over the last 26 years to explore sub-cropping mineral deposits ideally buried below one meter or greater depths.

“The SGH survey is a relatively new but effective tool and another step in our exploration strategy of advancing the Project to the drill-ready stage,” added Tafel.

The Douay Project contains 422,000 oz Au and 2,352,000 oz Au of inferred resources.

The company also has the Vezza Gold Project, which is around 1.5 km from the property’s northern boundary.

Westmount is focused on gold exploration in Canada. Currently, its main focus is on advancing the Douay East property.

Westmount Minerals Corp. (WMC) is trading at C$0.10 at 2:14 pm ET.
