Westhaven Gold (WHN) has released the latest results from a 30,000-metre drilling program at the Shovelnose gold property in British Columbia.

The company hit underwhelming golds assay results, while testing several step-out targets in the southern zone of the exploration lease. The company has, however, stated that the focus of the program is to test as yet untested targets.

Hole 20-65 hit a 34-metre strike of 1.21 grams per tonne gold and 3.68 grams per tonne silver, which included one metre of 15.7 grams per tonne gold and 77.5 grams per tonne silver.

Hole 20-62 returned 20.12 metres at 0.90 grams per tonne gold and 2.17 grams per tonne silver, which included 0.45 metres at 8.7 grams per tonne gold and 36.30 grams per tonne silver.

That same drill hole also intersected six metres at two grams per tonne gold and 2.85 grams per tonne silver.

Hole 20-64 returned 1.57 grams per tonne gold and 4.30 grams per tonne silver, which included two metres at 3.84 grams per tonne gold and 6.85 grams per tonne silver.

The company has also added a third drill rig to the program on Shovelnose to speed through the mammoth drill program.

That third drill rig will target the Shylock target, which lies 1.5 kilometres southeast of the site’s South zone.

Gareth Thomas, President and CEO of Westhaven, said he was encouraged by the initial assay results from the property.

“These results build confidence in the continuity of gold mineralization between the South zone and high-grade gold intersected at the Lear zone.

“As our exploration efforts continue to expand the number of regional targets outside of the South zone high-grade gold discovery area, the company is mobilising a third drill rig to being drilling on July 15,” Gareth said.

Westhaven Gold (WHN) is down 7.6 per cent and is trading at C$0.97 per share at 10:25 am EDT.
