West Island Brands (WIB) has strengthened its team with three new appointments.

Mathieu Couillard has joined the company as a director.

Couillard joined Haywood Securities in 2016 and served as Managing Director of investment banking, leading the special situations team. Prior to Haywood, he was part of the risk management solutions group specializing in the sale and structuring of derivative products at National Bank of Canada. Couillard is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.

“Mr. Couillard is an experienced investment banker who has extensive experience in the cannabis space,” stated Boris Ziger, West Island’s CEO. “He has participated in over $1 billion in capital raises for cannabis companies, from start-ups to some of the largest players in the industry. He is also the architect of numerous mergers and acquisitions.”

Veronique Laberge has also been named a special consultant to the CFO.

Laberge is a CPA and auditor with over 17 years of experience in professional practice. She specializes in certification mandates, general accounting, and as a business consultant for private and public companies.

Furthermore, Rawn Lakhan has been elected as West Island’s new chairman following Ziger’s relinquishing of the role.

West Island is a Quebec-based cannabis company operating the Ouest and Citoyen brands.

West Island Brands (WIB) is up by 60.87 per cent, trading at $0.185 per share as of 2:42 pm ET.
