It was a balmy night on June 14th, 2022 in Toronto when The Market Herald Canada officially introduced itself to the country’s capital market scene.

During the 90th annual Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) convention, many from the small cap investment scene took in the launch of The Market Herald Canada at Ricarda’s atrium in downtown Toronto.

The fastest growing business and finance platform in Canada, The Market Herald brings breaking Canadian stock market news that moves markets to investors across the country.

Nearly a thousand of the country’s capital market movers and shakers attended PDAC 2022.

Opening ceremonies saw record attendance and there were “standing room only” crowds across several programs taking in captivating discussions across a number of programs. Of special interest was the expanded keynote program, which featured presentations from industry experts on commodities, the mineral outlook, technology, and new discoveries

Six of the industry’s top performers received a PDAC 2022 Award, notably Sabina Gold & Silver Corp. (TSX:SBB) who took home the 2022 Sustainability Award for demonstrating outstanding initiative, leadership, and accomplishment in protecting and preserving the natural environment and/or in establishing good community relations during an exploration program or operation of a mine.

Sabina helped create one of the most stringent caribou protection plans in the North during the development of its Back River Project in Nunavut.

After more than two years of uncertainty for major events such as this, the large crowd speaks to the industry’s desire to get back to business in-person.

Reflecting on the COVID-19 pandemic that forced PDAC 2021 to be a completely online event, PDAC President Alex Christopher explained in a news release that the mineral exploration and mining industry faced a variety of challenges during the pandemic, and yet its significance and resilience has remained admirable, adding that pride was on full display at the PDAC 2022 convention.

“Energy was widespread across the sold-out Trade Show and Investors Exchange, as well as highly-attended short courses and programming that reflected conversations happening within the sector, including the dominant themes of equity, diversity and inclusion, Indigenous engagement, critical minerals, sustainability and industry’s role in helping the world realize a low-emissions future.”
