Telecommunications giant TELUS (T) has signed a world-first agreement with mental fitness app Calm.

The two companies will join forces and pool their resources in order to help Canadians improve their mental health. Under the agreement, the companies will provide Calm’s sleep, meditation, and relaxation content through TELUS’ Healthy Living Network.

A variety of mental health resources will be made available for free to all Optik TV and Pik TV subscribers. These resources will include guided meditations, breathing exercises, and Calm’s Sleep Stories, which are relaxing bedtime stories for adults.

The agreement will make TELUS’ Healthy Living Network the first TV service in Canada to offer Calm content on demand.  The companies believe that this collaboration will begin to address the stresses which have been created or exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

TELUS’ Vice President of Consumer Health, Juggy Sihota, commented on the company’s efforts to address its customers’ mental health needs.

“At TELUS, we know how critical good mental health is to overall well-being, and we remain committed to empowering our customers to make their health a priority, with access to the right tools, information, and support.

“Together, with Calm, we have now made valuable mental health resources easily accessible from the safety and comfort of home and on TV, at a time we know so many Canadian families can benefit from this type of support, today and into the future,” she said.

TELUS (T) is down 2.07 per cent and is trading at C$22.94 per share at 12:53pm EDT.
