Talon Metals (TSX:TLO) has identified new geophysical anomalies at its Tamarack project, potentially indicating nickel-copper mineralisation.

The Tamarack nickel-copper-cobalt project, located in Minnesota, USA, is comprised of the Tamarack North and Tamarack South projects.

A surface electro-magnetic geophysical survey was conducted over the region in December last year, including the 164 Zone, which sits one kilometre south of Talon’s current resource area.

The company’s objective was to calibrate the survey to the known mineralization within this resource area and determine whether similar conductors exist further south.

The results indicated a long linear conductive anomaly stretching from the resource area to the massive sulphide intercepts within the 164 Zone.

As such, it’s now thought that a much larger resource may exist within the region, which, to date, has seen limited drilling activities.

Henri van Rooyen, CEO of Talon Metals, said that the geophysical survey results could represent a turning point in exploration efforts at Tamarack.

“It therefore follows that we can now cost-effectively and rapidly expand our search radius to explore areas in the vicinity of similar high-grade nickel intercepts with the goal of discovering entirely new massive sulphide bodies,” he said.

Brian Bengert, Geophysicist at Talon Metals, also commented on the results, noting that the company’s team had always hoped that a surface electro-magnetic survey would be able to identify mineralisation at Tamarack.

“As part of the next program, we plan to expand the Surface EM survey north of the resource area, where other high-grade nickel has already been intercepted.

“The success of Surface EM at the Tamarack Project is an exciting development, and the company will make it a high priority to test these targets during its next drill program,” he said.

Talon Metals (TLO) is currently up 4.76 per cent and is trading at C$0.11 per share at 2:24pm EDT.
