Sorrento Resources (CSE:SRS) is gearing up for a prospecting program at its PEG Lithium Project in Newfoundland.
In a news release, the Vancouver-based exploration company said Planet X will complete the prospecting program.
Sorrento said the program will include prospecting, mapping and sampling of pegmatites and host rocks to determine the degree of pegmatite fractionation and any lithium mineralization present.
The results will then be used as exploration vectors for future work programs on the property.
According to Sorrento Resources, the PEG Lithium Property has the potential for lithium-cesium-tantalum (LCT) pegmatite mineralization with one of the only known lithium anomalies in Newfoundland – the “Snowshoe Pond Occurrence.”
The Snowshoe Pond Occurrence has lithium values of up to 399.4 ppm taken from coarse-grained pegmatite containing light green colored muscovite.
“The property has been relatively underexplored and hosts the first recognized Lithium occurrence in Newfoundland,” Brayden Sutton, CEO of Sorrento Resources, said in a statement. “The project represents an opportunity to discover new areas of Lithium mineralization with the help of the Planet X team.”
Sorrento Resources is focused on the acquisition, exploration and development of mineral property assets in Canada.
Shares of Sorrento Resources are down 2.04 per cent to C$0.24 as of 9:54 a.m. ET.
