SHARC International Systems’ (SHRC) wastewater heat recovery system is being delivered to Australia, for use in a senior living community.

The company’s PIRANHA system recovers energy from wastewater which usually goes down the drain each day. The captured energy is then used to heat hot water for showers, laundry, sinks, dishwashers, and sanitation processes within the building.

SHARC’s PIRANHA system will be used at Farrer Village, a 169-unit seniors’ independent living village, located in the Australian capital, Canberra. The Village is provided by Goodwin Aged Care Services, a not-for-profit organisation, and the largest aged-care provider in the Australian Capital Territory.

Installation of the system will help Farrer Village to save money on heating, as well as lower its carbon footprint. This project is the second PIRANHA installation to occur in Australia, but the first senior living facility installation that the PIRANHA system has been a part of.

As such, this installation highlights another industry that can benefit from SHARC Energy’s eco-friendly technology.

SHARC Energy’s Chairman and CEO, Lynn Mueller, commented on the increasing need for solutions like ones provided by the company.

“As the population continues to age, senior facilities will grow in numbers, and so will their energy use and costs.

“We are excited to work with highly reputable organisations such as D Group and Goodwin to help lower energy use in senior facilities, lowering their carbon footprint and helping senior care facilities reduce their energy costs,” he said.

SHARC International Systems (SHRC) is up 13.04 per cent and is trading at C$0.26 per share at 12:26pm EDT.
