PyroGenesis (PYR) has received a $700,000 purchase order for three plasma torches and ancillary components.

The client, Newport News Shipbuilding, is a U.S. Navy shipbuilder keen on applying the torches’ waste-destruction capabilities on the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier, the largest and most technologically advanced warship ever built.

Final delivery is scheduled for Q3 2023.

The torches will be used in PyroGenesis’ proprietary Plasma Arc Waste Destruction System (PAWDS), which the company previously built and delivered to the U.S. Navy.

The PAWDS can eliminate more than 400 pounds of diverse trash material per hour by reducing it to vapor.

The USS Gerald R. Ford is the first of four carriers the U.S. Navy has contracted to have the company’s PAWDS system on board.

“We are proud that PyroGenesis continues to be a supplier of choice for ultra-high-temperature waste destruction solutions on U.S. Navy aircraft carriers,” stated P. Peter Pascali, CEO of PyroGenesis.

PyroGenesis Canada offers advanced plasma processes and sustainable solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

PyroGenesis Canada (PYR) is up by 3.79 per cent trading at $1.37 per share as of 9:47 am EST.
