Patriot One (PAT) has been awarded a contract to create an AI-powered video detection application.

The contract, worth nearly C$1M, will help Canada’s Department of National Defence to detect, classify and track objects and events of interest.

Xtract AI, Patriot One’s AI innovation and development arm, is working on the project, which is known as RECCE, with delivery expected by March 31, 2022. The project is part of the Innovation for Defence Excellence and Security Program.

Patriot One plans to leverage the technology across its product portfolio to enhance solutions for customers, including crowd or threat detection management for large entertainment venues.

“This advanced object recognition technology can be applied in countless ways, from providing a higher-level of safety to people on the streets through video camera systems in specific locations around the world, to integrating it with drone cameras to survey large crowds of people,” stated Peter Evans, CEO of Patriot One.
