Nutrien (NTR) will acquire Brazilian agricultural retailer Casa do Adubo.

This includes 39 retail locations and 10 distribution centers.

The company expects the acquisition to add run-rate sales of approximately US$400M, which will increase total Nutrien Ag Solutions annual sales in Latin America to US$2.2B.

The transaction is pending approval from Brazil’s Administrative Council for Economic Defense.

Upon closing, Nutrien expects to surpass its target of US$100M of adjusted EBITDA in Brazil by 2023.

“The acquisition expands our footprint in Brazil from five states to 13 and supports growers in a key region of the world that will increasingly be relied on to sustainably increase crop production and feed a growing population, especially with the current global food insecurity challenges,” stated Ken Seitz, Nutrien’s Interim President and CEO.

Nutrien is the world’s largest provider of crop inputs and services. It produces and distributes 27M tonnes of potash, nitrogen and phosphate products per year.

Nutrien (NTR) is up by 1.5 per cent trading at $102.46 per share as of 12:51 pm EST.
