Northern Graphite Corporation has retained Minviro Ltd. to carry out a Life Cycle Assessment (“LCA”) of the Bissett Creek graphite project.

The assessment is part of the company’s goal to meet its environmental and social government responsibilities.

Minviro will conduct the assessment in two parts.

The first part will assess the potential environmental impact of the Bisset Creek project. This part includes determining the measures required to operate Bisset Creek as a carbon-neutral project.

The scenario analyses will include evaluating the differences in environmental impact between using a diesel versus natural gas mining fleet, natural gas versus diesel power generation and natural gas power generation with a co-generation facility to dry the graphite using waste heat rather than diesel or electricity.

In the second part of the assessment, Minviro will determine the environmental impact of using natural graphite to produce battery anode material compared to using synthetic graphite.

“The EV and battery industries need to be transparent about the environmental impacts of producing both natural and synthetic graphite and manufacturing battery anode material therefrom,” commented Northern CEO Gregory Bowes.

“Northern intends to make Minviro’s Report publicly available to lead and encourage discussion on such an important ESG issue.”

Minviro will produce an ISO-compliant report that will have been subjected to an external, third-party review carried out by a panel of independent LCA experts from academia and the industry.

Northern Graphite (NGC) is a Canadian company that owns 100% of the Bissett Creek graphite project. Bissett Creek is located 15km from the Trans-Canada highway between Ottawa and North Bay.

Northern Graphite Corporation (NGC) is up 4.82 per cent and is currently trading at C$0.435 per share as of 10:38 am ET.
