Northern Graphite (NGC) has successfully completed purification testing on graphite concentrates from its Bisset Creek deposit.

The tests demonstrated that the graphite concentrates can be easily purified to battery standards using either acid or alkaline-based processes.

This is the second phase of testing to evaluate the use of the company’s concentrates to manufacture lithium-ion battery anode material.

Testing was completed by ProGraphite, one of the world’s leading graphite research and development laboratories. The lab, which is located in Germany, has several decades of research and development experience.

With elemental levels far below the typical limits required for battery anode materials, the graphite concentrate yielded excellent results in testing. The results were comparable to the performance of thermal purification, a commonly used technique for purifying graphite.

Greg Bowes, CEO of Northern Graphite, expressed his optimism about the future of Bissett Creek’s graphite potential.

“Testing continues to show that Bissett Creek will have a big role to play in the fast approaching, transformation of the automotive industry,” he said.

Northern Graphite is a mineral development and technology company focused on developing its Bissett Creek graphite deposit.

The company also upgrades mine concentrates into high-value components used in lithium-ion batteries, electric vehicles, fuel cells, graphene, and other advanced technologies.

Northern Graphite Corp. (NGC) is up 1.27 per cent on the day, trading at $0.40 per share as of 11:33 am ET.
