NEO Battery Materials (NBM) has established a new research and development centre at Yonsei University in South Korea.
NEO Battery Materials Korea, the company’s South Korean subsidiary, has partnered with Yonsei University to develop and commercialize NBM’s proprietary nanocoating technology for silicon anode materials.
With an increasing need for space and equipment to advance the R&D activities, NBM decided to establish and build an independent scale-up centre and has secured a 4,300-square-foot space located next to Yonsei’s testing and evaluation facilities.
“With the setup of our research space, we are underway to hire more talented researchers,” commented NBM president and CEO Spencer Huh.
“We believe that this centre could speed up our further development of additional NBMSiDE pipelines of silicon anode active materials,” he added.
The new R&D scale-up centre will allow NEO Battery Materials to access additional non-dilutive grants and financing from the Korean government through NBM Korea, including tax incentives for the Korean subsidiary, registered as a foreign investment company in Canada.
“We will keep our valuable shareholders updated regarding our continuous corporate activities in Korea and Canada,” said Mr. Huh.
NEO Battery Materials is a Vancouver-based company focused on battery metals and materials.
The company is focused on producing silicon anodes materials through its proprietary single-step nanocoating process, which provides improvements in capacity and efficiency over lithium-ion batteries using graphite in their anode materials.
