Magna International Inc. (MG) is reinforcing its capabilities to produce electrification solutions with its EtelligentForce technology.

EtelligentForce is a battery-electric 4WD powertrain system for pickup trucks and light commercial vehicles.

It is paired with Magna’s eBeam technology.

The vehicle’s design will maintain capabilities without compromising payload or towing capacities.

EtelligentForce will be in production beginning in 2025.

Tom Rucker, president of Magna, stated,

“The beauty of this powerful BEV system is that it delivers the environmental benefits of an electric powertrain while maintaining the capability and utility of conventional ¾-ton and 1-ton trucks.”

EtelligentForce features the company’s eDrive technology at the front and its eBeam electrified beam axle at the rear.

It is designed for high-payload vehicles making it capable of towing up to 14,500 pounds.

It is on par with its ICE counterparts in this truck segment.

It can provide a total peak power of up to 430-250 kilowatts from the rear eBeam and 180 kilowatts from the front eDrive.

Magna’s eBeam replaces traditional beam axles, accommodating existing suspension and brake systems, and avoiding the need for an expensive redesign of existing truck platforms.

The benefits can help automakers simplify the transition toward electrification of these vehicle segments.

EtelligentForce requires less maintenance as it has fewer moving parts than a traditional ICE powertrain.

Magna is setting up a new EV center at its US headquarters in Troy, Michigan.

The team will be dedicated to preparing the EtelligentForce solution to launch in the North American EV market.

Magna International Inc. (MG) is up 0.35 per cent and is trading at $109.49 per share as of 2:43 p.m. EST.
