Itafos (IFOS) announced the appointment of Matthew O’Neill as Chief Financial Officer.

O’Neill succeeds George Burdette who is stepping down from his role as CFO to pursue other interests.

G. David Delaney, CEO of Itafos, commented on the appointment.

“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew O’Neill as our new CFO. Matthew brings a wealth of experience and expertise in all aspects of finance. He will be instrumental as we look to continue to execute on our strategic initiatives.”

O’Neill is a senior executive with over 25 years of experience in financial management, corporate development, planning, treasury, insurance, risk management and financial reporting. During his career, O’Neill has raised in excess of $7 billion in capital across both US and international markets.

Prior to joining Itafos, O’Neill served as CFO at Hawkwood Energy LLC, a private equity backed oil and gas company. Prior to Hawkwood Energy, he held roles including Group Financial Controller and General Manager for the treasury, tax and insurance functions at Oil Search Limited.

O’Neill has also worked at Woodside Petroleum Limited where he held multiple positions including Group Planning Manager, Assistant Treasurer and Finance Manager. He has worked for BHP Billiton Limited where he held various finance roles of increasing seniority.

O’Neill began his career in accounting and audit, having served at Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young. He holds a bachelor of commerce from the University of Melbourne and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand.

Itafos operates as a vertically integrated phosphate fertilizer and specialty products company.
