Innovation Metals, a subsidiary of Ucore Rare Metals (UCU) has formed a technical advisory board and appointed its initial members.

The technical advisory board is comprised of internationally recognized industry experts and thought leaders, with significant scientific, technical, and market expertise relating to rare-earth elements (REEs) and other critical materials.

Among the initial appointments are

  • Gisele Azimi, an associate professor at the University of Toronto and a professional engineer in Ontario;
  • Christian Ekberg, a professor at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden in nuclear chemistry;
  • Furkhat Faizulla, a founding member of Advanced Material of Japan Corporation, one of the largest traders of rare metals in Japan, with over 20 years of industry experience; and
  • V.I. Lakshmanan, an internationally renowned teacher, scientist, and innovator in hydrometallurgy and sustainable development and a long-time colleague of Innovation Metals.

The advisors will support Innovation Metals’ leadership team as the company continue to advance its RapidSX technology.

Dr. Gareth Hatch, Innovation Metals CEO, chairman, and co-founder, commented on the appointments.

The technical advisory board will meet with the Innovation Metals board and senior officers on a quarterly basis and will be available to provide additional support when needed.

Innovation Metals has developed the proprietary RapidSX process for the low-cost separation and purification of rare-earth elements via an accelerated form of solvent extraction.

Ucore Rare Metals, its parent company, is engaged in REE resource development and commercialization.

Ucore Rare Metals is down 0.91 per cent on the day, trading at $1.09 per share as of 9:32 am ET.
