Iconic Minerals (ICM) is producing high-grade lithium carbonate (Li2CO3) at its Bonnie Claire Lithium Project located in Nye County, Nevada.

The battery-grade lithium material comes from the project’s Bonnie Claire Deposit material.

The project itself hosts one of the largest lithium resources in North America.

Crude lithium carbonate product was dissolved and recrystallized to produce a marketable 99.9-percent pure Li2CO3 product.

The material used had approximately 1,000 ppm of lithium and was fed through a calcination and water-leach step, preventing iron and other impurities from entering the solution.

The solution was processed through an “off-the-shelf” commercial purification circuit.

The metallurgical program has been designed to support a Pre-feasibility Study on the Project.

“The production of marketable battery-grade lithium carbonate is one more important milestone on the road to developing this major lithium resource. We expect to achieve many more milestones this year as we work toward completion of a Preliminary Feasibility Study,” said Iconic Minerals CEO Richard Kern.

The company Vancouver-based mineral exploration company now intends to further evaluate processing to a lithium hydroxide product. It will also demonstrate the recovery of potential byproducts.

Iconic Minerals Ltd. (ICM) is up 4.76 percent, trading at $ 0.11 at 12:11 p.m. ET.
