IBI Group (IBG) has been selected to provide advanced traffic management technology for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.

In collaboration with Northeast Traffic Control Services and Green International Affiliates, IBI Group will utilise its GoTime software to determine transport information and make that data available to the public.

The contract is a five-year, multi-million-dollar deal, which will see the GoTime system enacted under a software-as-a-service agreement. Through a software-as-a-service, GoTime will be secured on an ongoing basis rather than being purchased outright by the transport authority.

By communicating with 155 Bluetooth readers scattered across the Commonwealth, IBI’s technology will post real-time travel information to 160 hybrid travel time signs. Further data will be transmitted to a public facing website, developed by IBI Group for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.

IBI Group CEO Scott Stewart said the contract was a significant win that adds to the company’s growing software-as-a-service portfolio.

“I’m proud to see several of our software products being utilized to support efficient travel in the state of Massachusetts.

“MassDOT is an important client within our intelligent systems group, and we’re thrilled to continue our relationship with them through this multi-year engagement,” he said.

The company’s traffic management technology has become a keystone product in its porfolio and is already operational in Wisconsin, Connecticut, Upstate New York, Ada County, Idaho, Pennsylvania and Vancouver.

Further, plans are currently in place for GoTime, as well as IBI’s similar services, to be deployed in Ohio, Miami, Florida.

IBI Group (IBG) is down 0.7 per cent and is trading at C$5.69 per share at 12:06pm EDT.
