- IAMGOLD (IMG) has revealed the final assays from its 2020 drilling program at the Monster Lake joint venture project in Quebec
- At the site’s Annie Shear Zone, notable results include 3.8 metres at 16.9 grams per tonne gold, with a higher-grade internal assay at 66.5 grams per tonne of gold across 0.8 metres
- Lower-grade assays were intersected at the projects Big Mama Shear and Main Shear zones, at 5.63 grams per tonne gold across 2.82 metres and 2.09 grams per tonne gold across 12.3 metres, respectively
- With the program complete, IAMGOLD will incorporate the new data into its current geological model, as a guide for future programs
- IAMGOLD (IMG) is up 3.95 per cent and is trading at $5.52 per share
IAMGOLD (IMG) has revealed the final assays from its 2020 drilling program at the Monster Lake project in Quebec.
The company currently operates the project as a joint venture alongside TomaGold, with the companies holding a 75 and 25 per cent split, respectively.
The remaining 2,991 metres across six drill holes have been assayed, revealing a number of substantial high-grade intercepts.
At the site’s Annie Shear Zone, notable results include 3.8 metres at 16.9 grams per tonne gold, with a higher-grade internal assay at 66.5 grams per tonne of gold across 0.8 metres.
Lower-grade assays were intersected at the projects Big Mama Shear and Main Shear zones, at 5.63 grams per tonne gold across 2.82 metres and 2.09 grams per tonne gold across 12.3 metres, respectively.
Craig MacDougall, Senior Vice President, Exploration for IAMGOLD is pleased that the program continued to yield positive results from the Annie area.
“Our increasing understanding of the complex structural context has highlighted several discrete parallel shear zones hosting mineralization adjacent to the main known structural corridor.
“These results highlight the potential for the discovery of additional mineralized shoots along the Monster Lake structural corridor,” he said.
The aim of the 2020 program was to test key areas across the project’s Monster Lake structural corridor and the notable results at the Annie Shear could potentially extend the corridor’s strike distance at across the zone.
With the program complete, IAMGOLD is currently incorporating the new data into modelling as a guide for future programs.
Activities remain ongoing at the site and upcoming summer work includes a series of geological and geochemical surveys.
IAMGOLD (IMG) is up 3.95 per cent and is trading at $5.52 per share at 1:02pm EDT.
