GlobalX (JET) has delivered its first Airbus A320 at the Miami International Airport, marking the new passenger and cargo airline’s start.

The delivery ceremony brings the new charter airline one step closer to receiving FAA certification.

This is the first A320 aircraft at the base at Miami International Airport said Ed Wegel, GlobalX’s Chairman and CEO.

“We are thrilled to take delivery of our first A320 aircraft here at our base at MIA. We are building our airline around Airbus with the A320 and 321 in passenger configuration, and later this year with the first of many A321 cargo aircraft,” he said.

“Today is a testament to the outstanding work of the GlobalX team as we continue to certify as a US flag carrier,” he added.

The aircraft arrived at its new base of Miami International Airport (MIA) on Sunday and was greeted with a ceremonial water cannon salute upon landing.

For the first quarter of 2021, two aircraft are scheduled to arrive.

The A320 is painted with blue and green livery which GlobalX is well known for.

It also accommodates 180 passengers in all-economy class and features a large cargo hold capable of accommodating generous passenger baggage allowances.

Regarding the FAA certification – which is scheduled to happen late in the first quarter of 2021 – the A320 aircraft will start taking passenger charter flights through the United States, the Caribbean and Latin America.

Airbus America’s Chairman and CEO Jeff Knittel said he looks forward to the companies future relationship.

“We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the leadership and team at GlobalX for their trust in Airbus and our A320 aircraft family. It’s an honour to welcome a new A320 and A321 operator in North America and support them throughout their expansion,” he said.

Not only will GlobalX provide charter airlift to major airlines, but it will also provide its services to collegiate sports teams, casinos and corporate groups.

The airline will operate in the future from two bases; at Miami Internal Airport (MIA) and Atlantic City International Airport (ACY).

GlobalX is currently in the grey and is trading at C$1.30 per share.
