First Phosphate (PHOS) has received results from its Lac a L’Orignal property.

The results include metallurgical test results on mineralization, which were taken from 75 drill cores.

The company said the objective was to recover and upgrade the apatite to produce high grade concentrate feed for phosphoric acid production to produce LFP cathode active material.

“We are pleased with the results of our high purity apatite recovery which has the potential to allow us to create a large amount of purified phosphoric acid for the production of LFP batteries,” First Phosphate president Peter Kent said in a press release. “Our secondary recovery of ilmenite is equally important in that its upgrading may allow us to create the iron sulfate required as another important ingredient in the production of LFP batteries.”

Kent added that the company is now able to move towards a beneficiation pilot plant ahead of schedule.

First Phosphate is a mineral development company focused on extracting and purifying phosphate to produce cathode active material for the lithium iron phosphate battery industry.

Shares of First Phosphate (PHOS) are unchanged at C$0.80 on Monday morning.
