First Hydrogen’s (FHYD) Nicholas Wrigley will speak at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) as the company announces its emissions reduction targets.

The company has partnered with Ballard Power Systems and AVL Powertrain UK to develop and build two hydrogen fuel cell-powered light commercial demonstrator vans.

The vehicles will be road legal and used to showcase the capabilities of fuel cell technology, providing First Hydrogen with a platform for future commercialization.

“These demonstrators will be road legal in the UK and will both fast track our learning of the fuel cell mobility market and technology, and also provide our prospective customers will real time test beds for their future hydrogen mobility needs,” said Mr. Wrigley, non-executive director and chairman of First Hydrogen UK.

Mr. Wrigley is a guest speaker at Invest Africa’s roundtable discussion at the UN Climate Change Conference, which is being held in Glasgow, Scotland from October 31 to November 12, 2021.

He is also a VIP guest at the reception to be held by the Department of International Trade (UK) and Formula E, which will be hosted at the summit in Glasgow.

First Hydrogen has set ambitious emissions reduction targets for 2030, aiming to achieve net-zero emissions by the middle of the century. The company has identified fuel cell and hydrogen propulsion as key enablers for this net-zero future.

Work has already started at AVL’s Engineering Centre Basildon UK, with delivery scheduled for Q3 of 2022. The vehicles will be equipped with the latest generation Ballard FCgen-LCS fuel cell, giving the vehicles a range of more than 500 kilometres.

First Hydrogen is a Vancouver-based company focused on zero-emission vehicles and supercritical carbon dioxide extractor systems.

Shares in First Hydrogen Corp. (FHYD) are up 3.61 per cent, trading at $1.72 per share as of 9:55 am ET.
