Drone company, Draganfly (DFLY) has been chosen by Simlat, to create a solution for first responders dealing with COVID-19.

Simlat is a provider of next-generation simulation solutions for unmanned aerial systems (UAS). The company has developed a system called Specto, or the M3SAR, which boosts the usage of UAS by first responders for various tasks.

Specifically, Specto includes algorithms for search and rescue operations, and can also host algorithms for other additional applications. Under this collaboration, Draganfly’s Vital Intelligence Technology will be incorporated into Simlat’s Spectro platform.

Draganfly’s technology involves a health and respiratory measurement platform, which can be used as a pre-screening tool. The company has previously offered a similar screening technology, Safe Set Solutions, to businesses in the film and television industry.

Simlat will provide footage related to social distancing and vital sign measurement, which Draganfly’s technology will process and analyse. By identifying possible infections and respiratory conditions, the technology will assist with combatting pandemic outbreaks.

Draganfly’s CEO, Cameron Chell, commented positively on the company’s collaboration with Simlat.

“Simlat is a recognised global leader in creating outstanding systems that boost performance and safety.

“We are thrilled they have chosen Draganfly to aid in accomplishing an end-to-end solution to help first responders better handle pandemic situations,” he said.

Simlat’s Chief Technology Officer, Roy Peshin, also welcomed the initiative to fight COVID-19 through drone technology.

“Draganfly’s Vital Intelligence technology is the missing link in our vision to create a platform for addressing situations created as a result of this and future pandemics.

“We are excited to work together to combat the spread of COVID-19 on a global and local level, as well as facilitate the development of a product beneficial to pandemic control and disaster relief efforts,” he said.

Draganfly (DFLY) remains unchanged, and is trading for $0.56 per share, as of 11:14am EDT.
