Current Water Technologies (WATR) has completed successful in-house testing of its novel ammonia treatment system (AmmEl-Aqua).
The system allows safe transport of marine and fresh water animals.
The Ontario-based company will now undertake an initial trial with lobsters in early January. If successful, the program would be expanded to include additional commercial species such as snow crab, halibut and arctic char.
Ammonia is the primary metabolic waste product of fish and other aquaculture animals, and is one of the biggest challenges when transporting live seafood. It is extremely important that ammonia is not allowed to accumulate to toxic levels by aggressively treating the water during pre-transport conditioning and transportation.
The company uses its patented and proprietary “Electrochemical Technologies” to treat the waste in the water.
“Results of the inhouse test program have been outstanding. We anticipate commencing commercial activity early in the New Year. Also, based on recent sales initiatives we believe that 2022 will be Current Water’s most successful year ever,” said Dr. Gene Shelp.
Current Water Technologies is down 10 per cent, trading at $0.045 at 10:24 am EST.
