  • Work was completed roughly three weeks ago and included geological mapping, sampling and prospecting at the Cerro Tojo target area to the south of the property
  • Results included an assay of 8.4 grams per tonne of gold, which follows on from previously collected results at Cerro Rojo that included 27.5 grams per tonne of gold and 43.9 grams per tonne of gold from grab samples

Colibri Resource Corporation (CBI) has concluded a program of field work at its Evelyn property in northwest Sonora, Mexico.

Geological mapping, prospecting and sampling along projected structural trends in the southern part of the property, known as the Cerro Rojo target area, was completed roughly three weeks ago.

A total of 40 grab samples were collected, comprised of outcrop, sub-crop and proximal float.

The results from this work included an assay of 8.4 grams per tonne of gold, which follows on from previously collected results at Cerro Rojo that included 27.5 grams per tonne of gold and 43.9 grams per tonne of gold from grab samples.

Nine of the 40 samples collected returned grades in excess of 0.1 grams per tonne of gold, with four of these grading at more than 1 gram per tonne of gold.

Ian McGavney, Chief Operating Officer of Colibri Resource, noted that the company’s team of geologists is currently finalising geological maps, reports and interpretations.

“This recent work on the south eastern part of the property has extended the footprint of the Cerro Rojo target area and along with previous sampling and mapping, appears to confirm the presence of important north-south trending and northwest-southeast trending mineralised structures.

“We are currently planning a near term program of surface stripping and trenching to advance the Cerro Rojo target area through to the next stage of planned drilling,” he said.

In addition, a program of mapping – focused on the western portion of the Evelyn property – is expected to be completed within the next two weeks.

Colibri Resource Corporation (CBI) is currently steady at seven cents per share at 9:56am EDT.
