Calibre Mining (CXB) has begun mining at its new high-grade Eastern Borosi open pit operation.

Eastern Borosi has open pit reserves of 6.8 g/t gold, and the company remains on track to deliver consolidated production of 250,000 to 275,000 ounces in 2023, a 20 per cent increase over 2022.

After inclusion of this additional high-grade ore, more than one million tonnes of surplus processing capacity remains at the company’s Libertad mill, demonstrating the potential for additional future growth.

As part of its 2023 exploration program, Calibre has two rigs drilling within the 176 km2 Eastern Borosi land package, which hosts numerous low sulphidation gold-silver vein deposits and targets and potential for discovery of new zones and expanded resources.

The Vancouver-based company controls a 100 per cent interest in the Eastern Borosi gold-silver property, which is located in northeastern Nicaragua and is estimated to host an inferred resource of 700,500 ounces gold and 11.3 million ounces of silver. It is in a low-sulphidation, epithermal district that hosts numerous high-grade, gold-silver vein systems.

Darren Hall, President and CEO of Calibre Mining, stated that the team’s success in developing and mining at Eastern Borosi is due to positive stakeholder engagement.

“To date, 43 per cent of the population around our Eastern Borosi operation has benefited directly from vocational training initiatives, procurement opportunities or employment.”

Calibre Mining Corp. (CXB) is a multi-asset gold producer with a portfolio of exploration and development opportunities in Nicaragua. Its project includes Pavon Gold Project, Borosi Gold Project, IamGold and Santa Rita.

Calibre Mining Corp. (CXB) opened trading at C$1.54.
