Beyond Medical Technologies (DOCT) subsidiary Micron Technologies has been manufacturing medical masks in British Columbia since August 2020.

The three-ply medical-grade masks are manufactured under a Medical Device Establishment license from Health Canada. They feature an adjustable nose clip, three layers of protection, and conform to the standards of the American Society for Testing and Materials.

Micron Technologies is currently operating two shifts per day to manufacture the three-ply medical mask. The ramp-up in production is in response to the discovery of a new COVID-19 variant in South Africa.

In response to the new variant, the Canadian government has restricted travel from several south African countries after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared it a “variant of concern.”

The European Union, Israel, Japan, India, and Great Britain have also imposed travel bans based on the new “Omicron” variant.

According to the WHO, evidence gathered thus far indicates that the variant carries a higher risk of infection than other variants, making masks and increased safety measures even more crucial to Canadians.

Micron Technologies’ medical-grade face masks are available to purchase through Walmart, Amazon, and Shopify.

The masks are optimized to protect both front-line workers and consumers and are being produced at full capacity at the company’s manufacturing facility.

Beyond Medical is an industrial technology company with a manufacturing facility located in Delta, British Columbia. The company, through its subsidiary Micron Technologies, manufactures medical-grade face masks.

Shares in Beyond Medical Technologies (DOCT) are up 11.11 per cent, trading at $0.05 per share as of 1:48 pm EST.
