Benton Resources (BIX) and Sokoman Minerals (SIC) have received initial results from the maiden drill program at the Grey River gold project.

Located in Newfoundland, Grey River is a joint venture between the two companies through their alliance, which targets district-scale gold opportunities in Newfoundland.

To date, the alliance has drilled 1,026 metres in five holes over a four-kilometre strike length. Drilling sos far has returned multiple drill intersections of what the press release calls “potentially significant” gold mineralization.

The companies have received assay results for six of 13 core samples, which ranged from 1.34 to 37.64 g/t gold.

These five holes were drilled within a five-kilometre strike length of the Grey River quartz/silica zone.

Drilling intersected widespread pyrite mineralization in all holes, and gold mineralization in the eastern half of the property is strongly associated with these pyrite zones.

“This is truly an exciting time for the Alliance,” said Benton president and CEO Stephen Stares. “We believe this very large quartz system could be quite significant and we’re excited to plan the next phase of diamond drilling.”

Benton is a development-stage mining company engaged in the acquisition, exploration, and development of mineral properties.

“These are outstanding results from reconnaissance drill holes on a property that has seen virtually no exploration for gold beyond sporadic grab sampling,” added Sokoman president and CEO Timothy Froude. “Needless to say, we are extremely pleased and already have more than enough evidence to support drilling in 2022.”

Sokoman Minerals is a discovery-oriented company whose portfolio includes Moosehead, Crippleback Lake, and East Alder in central Newfoundland, Fleur de Lys in the northwest.

Together, Benton and Sokoman operate three large-scale joint venture properties including Grey River, Golden Hope and Kepenkeck in Newfoundland.

Benton Resources (BEX) is up 2.94 per cent, trading at $0.175 per share as of 9:43 am EST.

Sokoman Minerals (SIC) is steady, trading at $0.34 per share as of 9:43 am EST.
