American Manganese Inc (AMY) announced a significant milestone for its RecycLiCo demonstration plant project.

The company’s demonstration plant project has achieved 163 per cent of the designed processing capacity of 500 kilogram per day for lithium-ion battery cathode scraps.

According to the company, the demonstration plant testing schedule has an organized approach that evaluates individual processing steps. It uses scaled-up equipment and different commercially available lithium-ion battery waste feed material compared to the laboratory and pilot plant scale tests.

American Manganese believes the increase in processing capacity is due to the effectiveness of its patented process, equipment selection, and operational expertise. The optimized processing parameters, which exceeded American Manganese’s expectations, will be used as data points for the company’s upcoming commercial plant design.

“Within the same demonstration plant footprint, we continue to redefine our patented process’s capabilities that could translate into improved economics, environmental benefits, and plant size requirements when evaluating our commercialization strategy… continued possibilities and added value of the RecycLiCo process as we continue to test, de-risk, and optimize the demonstration plant project,” Zarko Meseldzija, CTO of American Manganese said.

American Manganese Inc is a battery materials company focused on recycling and upcycling lithium-ion battery waste. The company’s patented closed-loop hydrometallurgical process creates materials for direct integration into re-manufacturing new lithium-ion batteries.

American Manganese Inc (AMY) is up 1.96 per cent and is trading at $0.52 per share at 1:52 p.m. ET.
